antique dresses

My grandmother left me some antique dresses which we believe were hand-made by her mother, Mattie Barrows, in the 1920's.  These are beautiful little dresses, complete with pintucks, lace, and those tiny little buttons in the back.  I used them a little with my daughters, but my daughters have grown and no longer fit - I need to find other uses for them now.

I am happy to let customers use these dresses for their baby daughters - if you have any questions please contact me.  You're welcome to come & see the dresses if you'd like.  I will describe them below.

Please click on the pictures below for a larger view.

Dress 1

This dress is small - newborn to size 3 months, perhaps to 6 months.  It has pintucks on the front and some tiny pastel flowers embroidered on the front.  It is long sleeved.  The baby above is my daughter at 2 months old (but she was a very big girl) wearing this dress.

Dress 2

This dress is the same size as the dress above.  It has pintucks, and some white embroidery at the neckline.  Very simple and beautiful.

Dress 3

This dress is a little larger than the above 2 dresses, but I think the largest size it would fit is 6 months.  It is short-sleeved, has lots of little pintucks under the collar, buttons in the front, and has a little yellow piping towards the bottom hem.

Dress 4

This dress is a little larger than the previous dresses - probably size 9 months, maybe 12 months.  It is all white, with a scalloped hem and neckline, long sleeves, and white embroidery at the neck and down the front.

Dress 5

I have used this dress the most.  It is larger but can also be used for tiny babies.  The second picture above is of a girl who was 12 months old, and the third picture is of a baby 3 days old.  Obviously it hangs down like a christening dress on very small babies.  I have a very small slip that goes under it when used for tiny babies.  I think it would work up to size 18 months, or maybe even larger - it would just be shorter.  It is short-sleeved, with little lace sleeves, and has little eyelet embroidery all over.
